Lydia Orr is an MPA student in the University of Pennsylvania’s Fels Institute of Government. Her primary interests are in housing, development, and inequality. After graduating with a degree in International Studies from Boston College, she moved to New York City to work as a middle school reading teacher in Brooklyn and a Dean of Academics in Queens. Her time in schools, coupled with her personal experience growing up in South Texas led her to realize that tackling inequality in the classroom, though an important part of the process, is too late. Lydia is eager to learn and grow with the ImpactEd team and excited to explore all that Penn and Philadelphia has to offer.
